As part of our commitment to the teachings of the Catholic church, Key Stage Two participate in lessons around the nine aspects of Catholic Social Teaching. Where appropriate, these aspects are linked to topics such as Fair Trade in Year Five and Wonder in Year Six.
As well as using Life to the Full for RSHE, we also use CAFOD’s resources so enhance children’s understanding and spiritual development around the nine aspects.
CAFOD Live Simply Award
This year, we are working towards the CAFOD Live Simply Award. This involves us thinking more carefully about how we can live a simpler life, live more sustainably and within our means and live in solidarity with the world around us. We have many events planned to link to this, the first of which is a pledge to live a more simpler life.
If you would like to pledge something you and your family are going to do this year to live more simply, add it to our wall below.
Earth Day 2024
Our school celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April. Year Five created vlogs about plastic vs planet and connected their research to elements of Catholic Social Teaching. Here are some examples of work completed by Upper Key Stage Two to mark the day, including our modern day versions of the Sermon on the Mount and vlogs about plastic in the oceans. Also below are some examples of work done in Reception to mark Earth Day and our school focus on UNICEF’s Global Goals.
