Religious Education is at the very heart of everything we do at St Mary’s. We pride ourselves in being creative in our learning and allowing our children to study scripture, opening their eyes and minds to God’s love through scripture, Lectio Divina, music, art, reflection, prayer, drama, technology, poetry and debate. This allows our children to all succeed, regardless of ability, as they are able to express themselves in a variety of ways in order to respond to scripture. Currently, our RE curriculum is in a state of flux due to implementation of the new Religious Education Curriculum Directory; we supplement this through the use of other pieces of scripture to allow deeper study and more engaging tasks that are accessible, challenging and relatable to the children in our school. See below for dates and see our RE and Prayer & Liturgy (Collective Worship) policies for implementation. Please go to our Catholic Life and Mission section, where there is another section for RE which shows examples of what we have been doing.

Prayer and Liturgy Policy
We pride ourselves in our developments in Prayer and Liturgy (Collective Worship). Over the past seven years, we have developed from teacher-led worship to pupil autonomy in worship sessions. We had moved in to implementation of the Prayer and Liturgy Directory three years ago. See the attached document for more information on how we start building independence in prayer in our school from the moment children walk in to our building in Nursery.
